To Derby Building Products Customers and Vendors,
First and foremost, we hope you and yours are safe and healthy during these uncertain times. For those who have or know someone who has been infected with the Coronavirus, you are in our thoughts and we hope for a speedy recovery. My objective with these communications is to provide consistent and regular updates. Our decisions are based on what is best for the health and well-being of our team, while ensuring we are in compliance with the changing governmental regulations.
There has been confusion since Monday’s announcement from the Government of Quebec regarding non–essential businesses being put “on hold”. Since then, there have been many updates to the initial mandate. Customers and markets we serve are included in the mandate as an Essential Service / Priority Store. These are defined as: Megastores outside shopping centers that offer grocery, drugstore or hardware services. Further, the provincial mandate states “All businesses that produce inputs or raw materials necessary for priority services and activities must maintain their activities accordingly”.
Based on the directions in the mandate, reinforced by Canadian legal counsel, our St. Augustin, Quebec facility will remain open and operational in accordance with all current government guidelines as we are a manufacturer of the necessary inputs for priority services and activities. It is in the best interests of our employees, customers, and vendors to remain open and operational. And, in doing so, we are in compliance with all recent governmental decrees.
As always, our Customer Service and Purchasing teams are available while working from home. Additionally, our Miami manufacturing facility is open and operational.
As mentioned in my March 18 update, we are diligently working to keep our employees, customers, and vendors safe and informed. We appreciate your business and partnership and working with us through this pandemic. Times like this galvanize partnerships. We know, thanks to our great customers and vendors that together we will get through this. Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to anyone on the Derby team.
Stay safe and healthy,
